The girl was found with a troop of monkeys in Bahraich.
Cases of feral children - children living in the wild with no human contact - though not unheard of, are few and far between. However, one such instance of an 8-year-old girl living with monkeys in Uttar Pradesh has recently come to light. According to ANI reports
, the girl was found in the Katarniaghat forests of Bahraich about two months ago. She was found with a troop of monkeys by sub-inspector Suresh Yadav during a patrol in the Motipur range of the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary.
According to reports, the girl seemed comfortable with the monkeys and screeched when Mr Yadav tried to rescue her. However, she was rescued by the cop and taken to a district hospital.
As per Chief Medical Officer D K Singh
, she eats and walks like animals, and runs away on seeing humans. She has marks on her skin and looks like she has lived with animals for quite some time now. According to Times Of India reports
, she has been trained to walk but sometimes still moves around on four limbs.
Chief Medical Officer Mr Singh has said that she is better and healthy and showing definite improvement.
