Mumbai Model Found With Throat Slit, Not Suicide, Says Family
Mumbai: A 40-year-old model was found dead in her friend's apartment in Mumbai's Versova late Saturday evening.

Shikha Joshi, from Delhi, had been living in Mumbai for the last eight years and had moved in with her friend Madhu, three months ago.

Shikha was found with her throat slit in Madhu's bathroom, the police said.

In her statement to the police, Madhu said that Shikha had been depressed for a while. After she found Shikha in the bathroom, she called her husband, and they took Shikha to the Kokilaben Hospital. She was however declared dead on arrival.

The police have filed an Accidental Death Report in the matter and are investigating the case further. They however say that the post mortem report is awaited and until then, the incident will be treated as a case of suicide.

Shikha's brother Vishesh Joshi however claims that Shikha had filed a molestation complaint against a doctor in the area, whom she had visited for cosmetic surgery a few years ago. The case against the doctor is currently being heard at Bandra Court.

"There was pressure on Shikha to withdraw the case. I spoke to her an hour before we heard of her death. She sounded normal. I asked her if she needed any money or help, but she refused. An hour later, Madhu called my mother to say Shikha had committed suicide. I don't believe it, there is something more to this," Vishesh told NDTV.

Police, however say they have clues, an audio recording in particular, that points towards suicide.
