When the 2023 Met Gala theme was announced as 'Karl Lagerfeld: The Line Of Beauty', we knew that the couture on the red carpet wouldn't just pay tribute to the departed designer and his love for all things classic and chic. Karl adored his pet Birman cat Choupette so much that he practically turned her into a furry celebrity herself. We kid you not, she has over 1,80,000 followers on Instagram right now. So of course a theme honouring Karl would tip its hat to Choupette as well. Jared Leto, Lil Nas X and Doja Cat were the celebrities who pushed the boundaries with their own personal homage to the furry feline on the 2023 Met Gala red carpet.

Jared Leto did the unthinkable when he actually showed up as Choupette. Her took the inspiration a little too seriously when he arrived in a larger-than-life cat costume that resembled the white fur and blue-eyed feline. Later, the actor changed out of the whimsical look into a black ensemble.

Lil Nas X doesn't play it safe. Not now, not ever. This turn at the 2023 Met Gala saw the artist strip down to a thong and only wear silver body paint and many hundreds of crystals with it. His embellished face mask was fashioned like a cat and was complete with whiskers in a Choupette-goes-glam reboot of sorts.

With a stage name like Doja Cat, do you think she'd miss the opportunity to dress up like Choupette? Doja's silver cutout gown came with a feathered train and a hood that had cat eyes attached to it. With cat eyeliner and a claw manicure (of course!), she had prosthetic makeup applied to make her face resemble a cat as well.
