1. Recyclable Packaging

Plastic waste happens to be a major concern for water bodies over the world. It chokes sea creatures and pollutes the sea. That being said, brands are becoming more conscious about their approach. They are now inculcating recyclable packaging to do their bit towards the oceans. Brands like Juicy Chemistry and The Body Shop have been using the practice where product packaging can be returned and recycled. Other brands like Purearth have initiatives to repurpose empty bottles into planters.

2. Eco-Friendly Technology

The fashion industry is one of the most deadly for the use of their environmentally-detrimental practices. However, over time there have been brands that have made fashion more sustainable. Levis opts for a water-less technology in an initiative to save water when manufacturing millions of jeans yearly. H&M encourages donation of old clothing and fabric which they repurpose into brand new collections. Water-less beauty products also aim to reduce water usage in the production process.

3. Reef-Safe Sunscreens

Could your sunscreen be affecting the ocean? Reportedly, marine biologists have found certain chemicals present in sun lotions could lead to the bleaching of coral reefs. Hence, it is important to look out for the ingredients and formulations that do not affect the oceans. Hence it is advisable to look out for the main chemicals of oxybenzone and octinoxate, which are commonly used in sunscreen.
