Still Following Your Summer Skincare Regime In Winter? Then Make These Beauty Swaps
An effective winter skin care routine begins with these beauty swaps

The winter season can be difficult to tread through. While it's warm and cosy under a blanket, your skin is facing the most trying time of the year; no wonder you end up ridden with dry patches and flaking skin. That's probably because you're using the same skin care products you've been using all year. Don't make that mistake any longer - instead just swap them out for these more suitable winter skincare alternatives.

1. Swap Lotion For Cream

Lotion is big part of every skincare enthusiast's routine both, during day and night. In winter however, it's smart to put away lotion and replace it with face cream. Lotion tends to be of a thinner formula, which is great for summer but doesn't nourish as intensely as a cream does in winter.

2. Swap Serum For Oil

If you've been waiting to break out your newly bought facial oil, winter is the perfect time to do that. Although serum is known to be potent without weighing too heavily on the skin, it isn't famed for moisturization, which one definitely needs in winter. A facial oil will go deep into the skin to nourish it while lending the skin with a delightfully dewy look.

3. Swap Lip Balm For Petroleum Jelly

Sure, lip balm comes in adorable packaging and looks lovely on the lips but it isn't enough for harsh winter breeze. What can fight that, however is the age-old petroleum jelly. As it creates a barrier around the skin that prevents moisture from escaping, petroleum jelly is the industrial grade miracle that fares excellently for chapped, dry lips in winter.

4. Swap Exfoliator For A Face Towel

Although your first instinct to get rid of those itchy flakes on your face is to scrub it to glory, that might just worsen it. Instead of an exfoliator, apply facial oil and rub it into your skin with a warm damp face towel. This will gently remove dead skin without being abrasive on it.

5. Swap Lotion For Body Butter

Applying the same principle used for face lotion, body lotion too is hydrating but not enough to keep rough, dry skin away in winter. Since no one wants that, turn to body butter. They tend to be more creamy and heavier that traditional lotion formulas which works harder on winter affected skin.

6. Swap Face Wash For Cleanser

While a foamy face wash will leave your face spanking clean all year though, in winter it might just leave your skin feeling tight and dry. In that case, swap it for a soap-free cleanser. While this product won't have the familiar lather you're used to, it cleanses just as well while being gentle enough even on sensitive skin.
