When you think of a headache, we know the quickest fix that comes to mind - pop a pill. Yes, that's what we all think. Modern medicine has, no doubt, made life a lot easier. But what about the time when you can't find the pill you always resort to for your headache? What if we told you there are natural, cost-free and quick ways to ease that pain without having to step out of your house, or wait for someone else to get the pill?

Here are some quick, natural remedies to cure that persistent headache:

1. Massage With Some Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil is known to generate a long-lasting cooling effect on the skin. When massaged gently, peppermint oil stimulates a significant increase in blood flow and soothes muscle contractions. You can also add the essential oil to your bath water - the soothing, calming and cooling qualities of this oil will help in releasing any pent-up tension and thus help cure the headache. So if you don't already have some peppermint oil at home, it's time to get some.

Alternatively, you can boil some peppermint leaves in water and make some tea for yourself. Sit in a relaxed, stress-free environment and sip some. You will begin to notice the effects sooner than you can imagine.

2. Hydrate Yourself

One of the major reasons for a headache is dehydration. Drinking at least eight glasses of water a day is necessary for your body. Treat your headache and fatigue by sipping water regularly. This simple (and cost-free) remedy will keep you feeling energized and headache-free.

Alternatively, when you can't get your eight glasses of water down in the liquid form, you can even eat your water. Yes, that's right. A lot of fruits and vegetables contain over 90% water and do a great job in keeping us hydrated. So next time, before you resort to popping a pill for that throbbing headache, consider reaching for water-rich foods.

3. Apply Some Ice

Ice is something we all have lying around at home - and it is a natural and quick remedy for many things. A headache being one of them. A cold pack may create a numbing effect and, therefore, dull the sensation of pain. The cold temperature inhibits one's ability to feel pain and may also help in reducing swelling. Incase of a severe headache or even a migraine attack, applying a cold compress to your head or back of your neck can prove to be extremely relieving.

Here were some quick fixes around the home for your headache. Do you have any go-to measures for when you have a headache? Share them with us and we might share them further!
