Your wedding is perhaps one of the most special days of your life and looking the part comes with just as much thrill and excitement. However in the due course of the whole wedding planning and happenings, stress and overwhelming pressure can hound you. To look your best on the wedding day, timely preparation is of great help. This gives you the opportunity to take care of the smallest details and helps to reduce stress. Start taking regular treatments at least a month in advance, so that you can attend to skin and hair problems, if any with utmost care.

1. First on your list should be fitness. The right diet and daily exercise can really add a glow to the skin. Include foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals, like fresh fruits and fresh fruit juices, raw salads, sprouts, yogurt, cottage cheese and cut down on fried foods, rich gravies, aerated drinks and coffee.

2. Salons offer a total bridal makeover. Find out about the packages that are available in good time, so that you can make your appointments well in advance.

3. Talk to the beautician about your makeup and consult the hairdresser about the right hairstyle for the big occasion. Discussing this in good time saves a lot of last minute panic. Ask about regular clinical treatments and henna to give your hair a boost.

4. For your daily care routine, cleanse your skin twice a day, using a cleansing cream for normal to dry skin, or cleansing milk for normal to oily skin. Specialized cleansers for oily/problem skins are also available.

5. If you have an oily skin which is dull, or you have blackheads, use a scrub, twice a week, to deep cleanse the face and remove dead cells. After cleansing or washing the face, apply the scrub and rub it gently on the skin. Then wash off with plenty of water.

6. Two or three times a week apply a facial mask. You can buy a facial mask, according to skin type, or prepare one at home. Take two teaspoons choker (wheat bran), one teaspoon ground almonds and mix one teaspoon each of honey, curd and rose water. Apply this on the face and wash it off after 20 minutes.

7. Twice a week, apply warm almond oil on the scalp and hair. Dip a towel in hot water, wring out the water and wrap the warm, moist towel on the head. Keep it on for half an hour. Then wash the hair.

8. If you need to get waxing and threading done, it is better to have it done a day or two before the wedding. If you have never had threading done before, it is better not to attempt it close to the wedding date, as sensitive skins can develop redness or even rash.

9. The day before the wedding have your manicure and pedicure done. Keep enough time for this, so that you can have your hands and feet massaged. It not only benefits the skin, but also helps relaxation.

10. For the skin on the body, oil massage helps to make the skin soft. Sesame seed (til) oil can be used. Add a few drops of rose water to the oil. This helps to make the oil fragrant. Apply the oil and massage it into the skin, paying special attention to the elbows, knees, hands and feet. Take a small towel or wash cloth and wet it in warm water. Wring out the water and wipe the body with it. After bathing, apply a body lotion.

11. For the feet, soak them in warm water three times a week. Do this at night, before going to sleep. Add liquid soap or a shampoo. After ten minutes of soaking, scrub the feet with a loofah or sponge. Use a heel scrubber or pumice stone to remove the dead skin on the heels. Wash and wipe the feet. Apply a cream on the feet, massaging it into the skin. If the skin on the heels is dry and cracked, apply cream generously on the heel area. Tie a piece of clean cloth, like a bandage, then wear cotton socks and go to sleep. This will help to soften the skin.
