There are ripped jeans and then there are ripped jeans. They may sound the same but the line between them is a fine one. Manage to find that balance and you can be a style star. Don't and it can turn out to be an epic fail. Based on the reaction of the internet to Anushka Sharma's latest look, her pair seems to have fallen in the latter category.
Distressed denims have been a crowd and celebrity favourite since the 00s. We've all worn our share of acid washed numbers with a sprinkle of distressing that artfully shows a bit of skin through our trousers. But when distressing and rips turn into actual holes big enough to put a leg through, that's where everything goes downhill.
In her latest snap straight from the US of A, Anushka pouts with a pair of sunnies, a beige Suppandi printed t-shirt and ripped jeans. While she was pushing the upcoming #NUSHXSuppandi collection from her brand Nush, what got the most attention was the denims she paired with the look. The light washed fitted pair saw enormous rips over the thigh and knees. More than a fashion statement, it almost looked like the shredded fabric had been caught in a thorny bush.
As is the case with any fashion statement these days, the internet was quick to respond with a resounding nope. More than scoping out Anushka's Suppandi t-shirt, they focused their attention on her bottom wear and didn't hold back. While a few found it to be a nice look, others weren't quite as kind.

Some commenters asked her who had torn her jeans and what had happened to her pants.

Then there were the ones that said that they were probably the result of a tussle with her tailor.

Still others wondered how people were willing to pay for the jeans, especially a high earning actress like Anushka.

Some couldn't even fathom that a fashion statement that involves holes in fabric even existed.

Others went to the extent to recommend that she didn't add the ripped jeans to Nush's collection.

Ouch. That's cold, even for Instagram. Looks like the people have spoken, Anushka and it's all for the best, especially if you want all eyes on the Suppandi shirt.
