Mumbai, the city of dreams. Also, the city of incredible humidity and surprise showers. For beauty addicts in Mumbai, this can be a downer. I mean, which one of you hasn't found your face turning into an oil spill on an April afternoon? Here are a few more beauty problems that every Mumbai girl has faced at some point or another.
1. Racoon eyes in the monsoon
How many times have you gotten caught in the rain without an umbrella? Countless times, we're sure. It's even worse if you aren't wearing waterproof mascara. The horrifying sight of leaky black streams pouring down your face is worthy of being uncut footage in a horror movie. At least that'll remind you to always keep an umbrella handy.
2. Getting a blowout. Courtesy: a crazy rickshaw ride
Regardless if you've straightened your hair or gotten glamourous curls, once you sit in an auto rickshaw, you're definitely in for a new look. Thanks to auto drivers who like to believe they're Lewis Hamilton, every turn in a breezy auto will leave your hair big and blown out. Our advice? Keep a hair tie handy. (Or a shower cap.)
3. Melted makeup in summer
Only the most daring in Mumbai venture onto the streets with a full face of makeup in the middle of May. Either their skin has incredible oil-controlling abilities or they haven't visited the city in summer before. Because a soppy mess of melting foundation and leaky lipstick is inevitable and never a pleasant sight.
4. Sticky lips because you wanted to enjoy the breeze
If you're lucky enough to enjoy the breeze when driving down marine drive or the sea link, you might want to reconsider putting on the lip gloss. You know how this plays out, don't you? Flying strands, sticky lips and hair filled with gunk - definitely not the kind of long drive we like!
5. Greasy skin, all year round
No matter what month it is, in Mumbai, the greasy film on your skin is a constant. It may be pouring, snowing and freezing all over the world, but even on the coldest day in December, Mumbai's famous humidity doesn't budge and that's just something we'll have to deal with - with plenty of blotting sheets, of course.
