Yudh Abhyas 2017 is a joint military exercise carried out between India and the US
The ongoing joint exercise between the armies of India and the US aims to build relations and inter-operability to conduct counter terrorism, counter insurgency, regional security and peace-keeping operations, the Army said today.

2017 will cover expert academic discussions on strategic issues of mutual concern by experts of both countries.
The two-week exercise began on September 16 in the Washington state of the US.
A combined training is being held between 5th Infantry Battalion of 20 Infantry Regiment of the US Army and soldiers of Gorkha Rifles from the Surya Command of the Indian Army, a statement said.
During the first week, participants were familiarised with each other's organisational structure, weapons, equipment, and tactical drills while commander and staff officers of both sides worked in close coordination to collate intelligence to issue suitable operational orders to the combined field training components, it said.
