Mumbai/ New Delhi: Actor Rhea Chakraborty's case against Sushant Singh Rajput's sister Priyanka Singh will not be cancelled, the Supreme Court said today. The CBI has to take over a Mumbai Police FIR against Priyanka Singh and investigate allegations that she faked a prescription to help the actor access banned medication. Last month, the Bombay High Court had endorsed the case against Priyanka Singh but had dismissed another against Sushant Singh Rajput's other sister Mitu Singh. Both cases were based on the complaint of Rhea Chakraborty, who had dated Sushant Singh Rajput.

  1. The CBI will take over the investigation against Priyanka Singh because the Supreme Court had earlier ruled that all FIRs related to Sushant Singh Rajput's death will be investigated only by the central investigation agency. The CBI had waited for a decision of the Supreme Court, which said today it was "not inclined to interfere".

  2. The sisters were accused of forgery and violation of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act based on complaints by Rhea Chakraborty, who is being investigated by multiple agencies after his family accused her of having a role in his death last June.

  3. On February 15, the Bombay High Court said the investigation against Priyanka Singh would continue. "There is prima facie case found against Priyanka Singh and there should not be any impediment against investigation against her," the judges had said.

  4. Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, a popular Bollywood star, was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai on June 14.

  5. Rhea Chakraborty filed a case against his sisters based on WhatsApp texts between the actor and Priyanka Singh on June 8, 2020 -- six days before he was found dead.

  6. The chats indicated that Priyanka Singh had advised her brother to take three medicines -- Librium, Mexito and Lonazep -- which are prescribed for depression and anxiety but cannot be bought over the counter.

  7. Rhea Chakraborty alleges that Priyanka Singh sent her brother a fabricated prescription on WhatsApp to help Sushant Rajput access medicines banned under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

  8. The 28-year-old actor also pointed out that the WhatsApp chats indicated that contrary to the claims of Sushant singh Rajput's family, they were aware of his mental health problems.

  9. Priyanka Singh's lawyer argued in court today that there was no evidence that Sushant Singh Rajput had taken the medicine. She also said in her petition that the doctor she had consulted was qualified to prescribe the drugs and through teleconsultation.      

  10. Rhea Chakraborty spent 28 days in jail in September on charges of arranging drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput.
