Sri Sathya Sai Baba still 'very critical,' say doctors
Puttaparthi: Spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba, seen as the incarnation of God by his devotees in India and abroad, continues to be in a 'very critical' state of health, his doctors have said. They added adding that 'most of his organs are showing very poor response to the treatment.'

According to the latest hospital report, his heart rate and blood pressure continue to be low and continue to be supported by drugs.

According to doctors attending on him at Sathya Sai Super Speciality Hospital at Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district, the condition of his liver and his low blood pressure are causing concern.

On Thursday, prohibitory orders were clamped in Puttaparthi as thousands of devotees started descending on the town following reports that the condition of Sathya Sai Baba has deteriorated.

More than 2000 police officers and men have been deployed there, particularly at the hospital.

Hospital director AN Safaya said Sai Baba's breathing is still ventilator-dependent.

He was admitted to hospital on March 28 with breathing and heart problems. The doctors later said he was suffering from multi-organ dysfunction.
