'Not Wrong To Compare AAP With East India Company': Ex-AAP Legislator Dharamvira Gandhi

Ex-AAP MP Dharamvira Gandhi backed Navjot Sidhu who compared Arvind Kejriwal to the East India Company.

Ludhiana: The manner in which Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party members are behaving in Punjab, it is correct to compare them with the East India Company said former Aam Aadmi legislator Dharamvira Gandhi today.

"In light of Kejriwal's perspective towards Punjab and other states, and the way political rights of the state are being violated, I don't think it is wrong to compare his functioning with the East India Company," Mr Gandhi said.

On Thursday, while announcing his Awaaz-e-Punjab party, former BJP legislator Navjot Singh Sidhu had accused Mr Kejriwal of "behaving like the East India Company." He had further added that the Delhi Chief Minister only wanted people who would tow his line.

The Aam Aadmi Party is eying its only second political victory when Punjab goes to polls next year.
Party chief Arvind Kejriwal arrived in Ludhiana yesterday to personally oversee the party's campaign. But Mr Gandhi, who was suspended in June for supporting party rebels Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, accused Mr Kejriwal of trying to bring outsiders to run Punjab.

"By bringing 50 people in Punjab they are trying to run the states' politics from Delhi. I have been saying this for over a year, and now Sidhu is also saying this. I agree with him," Mr Gandhi said.

When asked whether he would like to join the newly launched Awaaz-e-Punjab party, Mr Gandhi said that if there is any party that genuinely cares about Punjab, he would consider joining forces with it.

"Punjab is surrounded by so many problems like agriculture, unemployment and drug addiction. If any party or person is addressing these problems correctly, we will definitely seek help from them and extend our help to them," Mr Gandhi said.
