The RSS plan for the BJP's makeover is far from over.
In a clear signal of the RSS' influence in the BJP, the Sangh has proposed that the new party president should have a tenure of five years instead of three years.
After handpicking and installing Nitin Gadkari as the party president last month, the ideological head of the party now wants him to continue for a longer spell.
The aim is to avoid factionalism within the party in the build up to the next general elections to be held in less than five years.
