Rajasthan government doctors on strike, patients suffer
Jaipur: Medical services and allied treatment at government hospitals in Rajasthan came to a standstill on Wednesday after resident doctors deciding to observe a mass strike, demanding parity with their fellow cadres in the federal medical services in terms of pay and other allowances.

Reportedly, around 9000 doctors took part in this strike, causing inconvenience to patients, particularly those needing immediate medicare.

Speaking to the media, the Superintendent of Jaipuria Hospital said that the government has not responded to the doctors' plea for this parity in pay.

"Their main demand is that they should be paid salaries equal to the central government hospitals as they also work a lot. Government is not willing to do that" said Dr DS Malik.

"Only one doctor is available who is looking after the emergency. The government had appointed four doctors from the Health Directorate and they have not yet joined since they too are on strike," Dr Malik added.

The Out Patient Departments at the hospitals wore a deserted look and reportedly, only one doctor has been assigned to attend the cases in the Emergency Wing.

Amid all this, the real suffers were the patients who were left unattended in hospital wards and their attendants, who are running across the hospital premises for medical attention.
