PM Modi's Diwali Plan With Navy Personnel Off Goa Coast

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will celebrate this Diwali with personnel of the Indian Navy off the Goa coast, according to sources. The Prime Minister's Diwali plan with the Men in White is to celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor, India's counterstrike to the Pahalgam terror attack, the sources said. 

Ever since he took over the country's top executive post in 2014, Prime Minister Modi has spent Diwali with armed forces personnel.

In 2014, he headed to the Siachen glacier in Ladakh to spend the Festival of Lights with the troops stationed there. The next year, he was at the Dograi War Memorial in Punjab's Amritsar to honour the heroes of the 1965 Indo-Pak war.

The Prime Minister's Diwali destination in 2016 was Sumdo in Himachal Pradesh, where he met Border Security Force and Army personnel near the India-China border. The next year, he was at the Gurez sector in Jammu and Kashmir to meet the forces there.

In 2018, the Prime Minister's Diwali was spent with personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police in Uttarakhand's Harsil. The next year, he went to meet troops in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri.

For the 2020 Diwali, observed amid the nationwide Covid-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister was at Longewala in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer, the site of a historic battle during the 1971 war.

The Prime Minister's 2021 Diwali was spent with troops at Nowshera in Jammu and Kashmir. The year after that, he was in Kargil to honour the martyrs of the Kargil War. He has spent the last two Diwalis with troops stationed at Himachal Pradesh's Lepcha and Gujarat's Sir Creek.
