Pakistan releases another 80 Indian fishermen

Rajkot: Over 80 fishermen of Saurashtra region captured by Pakistan marine security personnel reached their hometowns on Saturday after they were freed.

Another batch of nearly 100 fishermen is on its way back home.

Senior officer of fisheries department V S Mali said that one batch of nearly 101 fishermen was released by the Pakistan government three days ago and they have reached their hometowns. "The health condition of fishermen is good," he said.

The official said another batch of 100 fishermen has also been released from Pakistani jails and have entered into Indian territory this morning.

The released fishermen of the second batch is expected to reach Rajkot on Sunday afternoon, he said.

Porbandar Boat Association president Hiralal Shiyal confirmed the arrival of first batch of fishermen and said nearly 80 fishermen have reached their hometowns in Saurashtra region and another 82 are coming tomorrow.

He said 242 fishermen are still in Pakistan jails.
