On Raksha Bandhan, Cops Tie Rakhi To Bikers Without Helmets In Bihar

Munger, Bihar: Police in Bihar's Munger district took to 'Gandhigiri' by tying rakhi to those found driving two-wheelers without helmets on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

District SP Asish Bharti along with his wife Swapna Meshram, who is Rail SP of Jamalpur, caught 101 bikers without helmets and tied rakhi on their wrists.

He said no fine would be imposed on those riding without a helmet and they were asked not to violate traffic rules anymore.

Mr Bharti told them about the utility of helmet as a safety measure and urged them politely to use it as a safe guard.

Similarly, Ms Meshram offered roses after tying rakhi to the offenders and urged them to wear helmet for a safe journey.

Following the SP's move, police tied rakhis to more than 1400 two-wheeler riders without a helmet.

Officials of Jamalpur police station area also offered sweets to the violators and made them aware of the importance of wearing a helmet.
