Nobody wants uncertainty prolonged: Law Minister

New Delhi: After the Supreme Court rejected a plea to defer the verdict in the Ayodhya case, Law Minister Veerappa Moily said, "Nobody wants uncertainty prolonged." He added that the government "always lent support for compromise."

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court will, on Thursday at 4 pm, deliver its ruling on the disputed site in Ayodhya.

A petition in the Supreme Court had asked that the verdict be deferred to allow for an out-of-court settlement.  However,  the main parties involved have said reconciliation is out of the question.

"I am confident that the people of India are mature enough to maintain equilibrium. Anybody can come to the Supreme Court. As far as the government is concerned, we have maintained secular, impartial stand and will continue to do so," said the Law Minister.
