Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressing a press conference after the Supreme Court transferred the Vyapam scam probe to the CBI.
Bhopal:
After the Supreme Court transferred the probe into the Vyapam scam and its related deaths to the CBI, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is addressing a press conference.
Here are the highlights of what he has said:
The Congress has leveled many allegations against me. They have hit below the belt.
Although the STF conducted a good probe, some questions were raised and Opposition party Congress made allegations.
They have made it look like Madhya Pradesh is a state of murderers.
The Supreme Court has said it appreciates the Madhya Pradesh government's stand in supporting a CBI investigation.
It was important that the CBI investigate this case to answer the kind of questions that were raised against us.
Urge the CBI to begin investigations as soon as possible so that the truth may come out.
Congress has always demanded my resignation. They suffer from Shivraj-phobia.
If they (Congress) have some personal enmity, let them take it out on Shivraj.
Instead, they are defaming Madhya Pradesh.
This was my litmus test (agni pariksha). The MP government should get credit for investigating the case and cleaning the system.
I could have easily said no to a CBI probe. This was like a trial by fire. That is why I wanted the CBI to investigate.
