4 Days To Arrest Shivam Mishra After Lamborghini Crash, Bail Within Hours

Shivam Mishra was arrested four days after the Rs 10-crore luxury car rammed an autorickshaw, a motorcycle and later crashed into a pole, leaving one person injured.

Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco tycoon KK Mishra, was granted bail this afternoon, just hours after his arrest this morning in connection with the high-profile Kanpur Lamborghini crash.

Mishra was arrested four days after the Rs 10-crore Lamborghini Revuelto rammed an autorickshaw, a motorcycle and later crashed into a pole, leaving six people injured.

While viral video footage appears to show private security personnel pulling Mishra from the driver's seat - and multiple witnesses corroborate that he was behind the wheel - his legal team maintains his innocence. His lawyer has repeatedly claimed that Mishra was not driving, alleging instead that his driver, Mohan, was driving the car.

On Wednesday, Mohan appeared at a Kanpur court to claim responsibility for the accident. He testified that he lost control of the sports car after Shivam Mishra suffered a sudden seizure. The Mishra family had previously stated that Shivam suffers from epilepsy.

"I was driving when the accident happened. Suddenly, he had a seizure and fell on me... I got scared and was trying to hold him with one hand. The car hit a three-wheeler," Mohan claimed. He further alleged that a malfunction in the auto-locking system prevented him from exiting the vehicle immediately, forcing him to move Mishra into the driver's seat within the cramped cabin to facilitate an exit.

New footage has surfaced showing one of Mishra's bouncers attempting to remove the license plate from the luxury vehicle. In the 36-second clip, the staff member is seen struggling with the plate of the Italian sports car while police personnel stand nearby without intervening.

Initially, victims and local residents alleged that authorities were treating Mishra with leniency due to his family's influence. The First Information Report (FIR) was originally filed against "unknown persons," with Shivam Mishra's name added only several hours later, following public outcry.

On Monday, Santosh Kumar Gaur, the officer-in-charge of the Gwaltoli police station, was removed from his post and sent to the police lines following "prima facie evidence of negligence."

"He failed to follow due procedure after the accident. The lapse amounts to negligence, and immediate action has been taken," said Commissioner of Police Raghubir Lal.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 pm on Monday on the VIP Road in Kanpur's Gwaltoli area. Witnesses described a chaotic scene where the speeding car struck an autorickshaw before hitting a stationary motorcycle, flinging its rider nearly 10 feet into the air. The car reportedly mounted the motorcycle's front wheel and dragged it several meters before coming to a halt against an electric pole.

Sonu Tripathi, one of the injured, recounted the moment of impact: "My cousin and I were standing near our motorcycle when the car struck us. My cousin fell, and two others were flung onto the footpath."

Following the crash, angry locals gathered at the scene. Witnesses alleged that Mishra's private security detail attempted to push back the crowd, further escalating tensions. The Delhi-registered black Lamborghini has since been seized for mechanical inspection.

Shivam Mishra's father, the owner of Banshidhar Exports Pvt Ltd, has recently been the subject of several Income Tax department investigations.
