Deepak Jaiswal was arrested in Bastar's Geedam area on Saturday on an old complaint.
Raipur:
The Chhattisgarh Police today arrested another journalist in the Bastar region, the second in a week, in a case registered months ago on the complaint of a school principal, triggering allegations of witch-hunting.
The police arrested journalist Deepak Jaiswal who works for Daindini newspaper in south Bastar's Geedam. The principal of the Higher Secondary School in Geedam had complained last year against Mr Jaiswal and Prabhat Singh - the journalist who has been arrested last week for allegedly posting objectionable content against a senior police official SRP Kalluri on WhatsApp.
In his complaint, the school official had alleged that both journalists had entered the school premises without his permission, manhandled teachers and staff members and allegedly demanded money.
After Somaru Nag, Santosh Yadav and Mr Singh, Mr Jaiswal is the fourth journalist to be arrested by the police in the last six months.
Activists and some local journalists have alleged these journalists are being targeted for exposing "fake surrender" of Maoists and police atrocities on tribals in the Bastar region.
