In 'minor mistake' India flag upside down in Pak

Islamabad: During Home Minister P Chidambaram's meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Rehman Malik in Islamabad on Saturday, the Indian tricolour was displayed upside down, which created a flutter at the meeting.

An alert Chidambaram spotted the error and brought it to the notice of Malik, who regretted the incident and asked it to be corrected.

"I detected the mistake and he (Malik) corrected the mistake. I told Malik about it and he was extremely regretful of that," Chidambaram told reporters.

"I think it's a minor mistake and I don't think we should make much of it. The flag was put right...," he said.

Reacting to the diplomatic faux paus by Pakistani hosts, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters that it could have been "avoided" if the officials were more "serious" and "alert".

"The incident could have been avoided if the Indian Embassy (officials) and other Pakistani organisers were more serious and alert," he said.
