If people of Bihar don't work for a day, Delhi will come to a standstill: Nitish Kumar

If people of Bihar don't work for a day, Delhi will come to a standstill: Nitish Kumar
New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar addressed a rally in the national capital on Sunday, as part of the centenary celebrations of the formation of the state, where he lauded the efforts of the people of Bihar.

"Delhi is for everyone, though sometimes jokes are made here, this gives us a lot of sadness. The people of Bihar don't go outside to beg, we go outside and we do well on the basis of hard work. If there is recruitment on the moon, the people of Bihar will go there too, we are so industrious. And yet, sometimes we are made to feel unwelcome in Delhi," he said.

"If the people of Bihar decide not to work for a single day, Delhi will come to a standstill. But I am not asking you to stop working; we have as much a right to Delhi as anyone else," he added.

Nitish also said though there is work in Bihar, the people of Bihar will go out. "This is our right and we will exercise it. And nobody can stop us," he said.

Nitish's address to a large gathering of people from Bihar in Delhi comes in the backdrop of talk of a Third Front following regional parties gaining importance post the dismal performance by national parties in the recently held assembly elections.

Nitish is also scheduled to felicitate over 10 people from the state who have excelled in their respective professional domains.

The rally is attracting attention because till now Nitish has restricted himself to state politics, and had avoided holding meetings outside the state.
