Health Sector a Priority Agenda of Arunachal Government: Chief Minister

Itanagar: Reiterating that the health sector would always remain the priority agenda of his government, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister(CM) Nabam Tuki has directed the department to come up with a vibrant human resource policy for rational deployment, transfer and posting of staff for approval.

Chairing the pre-budget discussion-cum-consultation of the department in Itanagar on Thursday, Mr Tuki pointed out that posting doctors, nurses and other para medical staff in various hospitals and health centres had been posing a great challenge which should be addressed through an effective policy.

Some of the important observations of the CM included the strengthening of supportive supervision and monitoring of health facilities, a press release from the CMO said in Itanagar today.

Stressing on "Health for all" to be the buzz word of the department, the chief minister directed all state health authorities to visit the districts for monitoring.

Health Minister Kalikho Pul apprised the CM of the major issues of the department like transfer and posting policy and shortfall of critical manpower, the release said.

Earlier, Health and Family Welfare Secretary Indra Mallo through a Power Point presentation highlighted the status of major schemes of the department and National Rural Health Mission.

Ms Mallo briefed the achievements and major outcomes of the department, saying that the state had improved in many health indicators and achieved major targets set by the state and the Centre.

Chairing another meeting yesterday, Mr Tuki directed the Social Justice & Empowerment and Tribal Affairs Department to obtain need-based approval of schemes from the state government to avoid resource wastage and under-utilization of funds released by various union ministries.
