A 70-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping his 16-year-old granddaughter, who is two-and-a-half months pregnant, in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district, police said.
According to the police, the teenager alleged that her grandfather sexually assaulted her for approximately three months, resulting in her pregnancy.
The teenager, whose mother passed away, lives with her father and grandfather.
She alleged that after her father left for work, her grandfather would find her alone at home and sexually assault her.
On Saturday, she was taken to a doctor for a check-up after complaining of stomach pain, and it was revealed that she was pregnant.
In the filed report, the teenager stated that she returned to Sikandra Rao from her maternal uncle's house about three or four months ago. She alleged that on June 20, her grandfather, Nizamuddin, sexually assaulted her and continued to do so repeatedly thereafter.
Circle Officer Amit Pathak said that the teenager was sent to the district hospital for a medical examination, which confirmed she was two-and-a-half months pregnant.
Nizamuddin was arrested on Saturday, Pathak said.
