Gurugram Resident Spends 4 Hours For 8 km Trip Amid Heavy Rains: 'Still Have 2 km Left'

A Gurugram resident has vented their frustration after spending four hours in a traffic jam to cover an eight-kilometre round trip. In a social media post titled, '4 Hours and counting for an 8km round trip,' the resident detailed that they had gone to pick up their child from school, but the heavy downpour on Monday (Aug 24) meant that they were forced to spend hours in the traffic that crawled at snail's pace.

Major parts of Gurugram were heavily inundated with severe waterlogging as 70the 'Millennium City' witnessed 70-75 mm of rain. Traffic jams paralysed movement around Rajiv Chowk, Narsinghpur, the Sirhaul border, and Subhash Chowk.

"Words can't describe the amount of hate I feel for the incompetence, corruption and the general 'who gives a f***'ery' of the administration here," the resident wrote.

Despite having spent four hours on the trip, the resident said they still had another two kilometres left to reach their destination, which added to their misery.

"It's been 4 hours since I stepped out to pick up my kid from school. A total round trip of 8 kms and I still have 2 km left to go," they added.

'Nothing Is Going To Change'

As the post gained traction, social media users highlighted that this has been the story of Gurugram for the last decade and the situation was unlikely to change in the future.

"Was on the same road. Started Uber auto booking at 2 pm, got auto at 3 pm. Reached Huda at 4:30 pm. Paid 4x," said one user while another added: "I don't understand why they can't hire better engineers. People are unemployed, but they can't hire better engineers or do road planning. Like bro, rain happens everywhere, but why are Indian states like this? For what we are paying taxes."

A third commented: "Nothing is going to change. 10 years ago in 2016, one fine day it rained cats and dogs and people were stuck for hours. The same happens in 2026, if not worse. It will continue in 2036 as well."

A fourth said: "There is no accountability. Bureaucracy is a joke here. Last year it happened with me; I posted on social media that this government needs to go, we need better governance, people entered my DM and started abusing me. I am not sure what the solution is, but the problem is governance."
