Govt to give Radia tapes to Supreme Court
New Delhi: The government has agreed to hand over the Niira Radia tapes to the Supreme Court.  The hard drives, CDs and tapes will be submitted in a sealed cover.

The tapes have been leaked over the last few weeks and have been widely reported on in the media.

In 2008-2009, Income Tax officials reportedly ordered the tapping of Radia's phone in connection with companies that were suspected to be involved in money-laundering and tax evasion. Radia was a powerful PR executive whose clients include some of India's biggest companies, including the Tata group.

Radia's conversations with Tata are among those which have been leaked.

Tata group chief Ratan Tata, in the petition before the Supreme Court on Monday, has contended that the leakage of the tapes have infringed upon his fundamental Right to Privacy.
