Govt to bring FDI in aviation to cabinet next month
New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Commerce Minister Anand Sharma and Civil Aviation Minister Ajit singh met today to discuss Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the aviation industry.

According to sources, the government will reach out to allies like Mamata Banerjee on the issue and will bring the plan to the Cabinet at the end of May.

Earlier this month, the government had said that it will "very soon" take a decision on the issue of allowing foreign airlines to pick up stake in the Indian carriers.

"This has been discussed with the Finance Minister, Civil Aviation Minister and myself and an appropriate view and decision will be taken very soon," Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma had said.
