Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations are set to conclude today with Ganesh Visarjan, the final day of the 10-day Ganeshotsav celebrations which began on August 27.
Devotees gathered in large numbers as Mumbai's iconic Lalbaugcha Raja and Ganesh Gali Ka Raja immersion processionmade its way through south Mumbai towards Girgaon Chowpatty, where the idols will be immersed in the Arabian Sea, marking the culmination of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Immersion processions of Ganesh idols also began in Pune with the first ‘Manacha' (eminent and revered) idol of Kasba Ganesh mandal on Anant Chaturdashi.
The festival marks the worship of Lord Ganesha as the god of new beginnings and remover of obstacles. It culminates on Anantha Chaturdashi and is celebrated with decorated homes, pandals, and vibrant processions.

Mumbai Bids Grand Farewell To 'Ganpati Bappa', 18,000 Idols Immersed
A sea of Ganesh devotees braved rains and a bomb threat to bid farewell to their beloved elephant-headed deity amid the beating of 'dhol-tasha' and rising clouds of 'gulal',
More than 18,000 idols of the elephant-headed deity were immersed in various water bodies in Mumbai till 9 pm.
Scores of people perched on road dividers, building terraces, balconies, trees, and even poles to catch a glimpse of the grand finale, as the idols made their way to the city's beaches and other water bodies amid chants of 'Ganpati Bappa Morya, pudhachya varshi lavkar ya' - a fervent wish for the deity's early return next year.
Four Drown During Ganpati Immersion In Pune District
Four people drowned in three separate incidents during Ganapati idol immersion in Chakan area of the district. While a man drowned in a well at Biradwadi village, two men drowned in the Baam river near Waki Budruk during immersion.
"According to preliminary information, the two had ventured into a part of the river outside the designated immersion ghat and drowned as they could not gauge the depth," said inspector Sanjay Solonake of Chakan police station.
A fire officer from Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority said the body of one person was fished out and the search for the other one was underway.
Another man drowned in the Bhima river at Shel Pimpalgaon during the immersion of a Ganapati idol, police said.
Five Eminent Ganpatis Of Pune Immersed Before Sunset
For the first time in several years, the idols of the five 'manache' (revered or eminent) Ganpatis of Pune city were immersed before 6 pm.
The immersion procession began around 9.30 am with the traditional pomp as Kasba Ganapati, the first among the five 'manache Ganpati', set off towards the river.
The immersion of the other four 'manache' Ganpatis -- Tambadi Jogeshwari, Guruji Talim, Tulshibaug and Kesriwada -- too was over by 5.30 pm. The idol of Dagadusheth Ganpati was immersed around 9.30 pm.
Thousands Of Ganesha Idols Immersed In Telangana
Thousands of idols of Lord Ganesh in various forms and sizes were immersed in water bodies in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana, marking the conclusion of the 11-day-long Vinayaka Chaviti festivities.
The sprawling Hussain Sagar lake in the city and the roads around it wore a festive look, with thousands of devotees arriving with chants of 'Ganpati Bappa Morya'.
More than 20,000 Ganesh idols were immersed in Hyderabad, including around 10,000 in Hussain Sagar lake itself till 8.15 pm. Over 2.54 lakh idols have been immersed in Greater Hyderabad limits since the last few days.
The immersion of the 69-ft tall Ganesh idol of the pandal at Khairatabad, the main attraction of the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities in Hyderabad, and also the famous Balapur Ganesh in the city were completed in Hussain Sagar lake.

People in large numbers gathered to witness the grand celebrations at the Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak Chowk. In visuals, the giant Ganpati idol could be seen moving in the crowd while arrangements were also made for cultural programs.
Another pivotal celebration was seen as Mumbai sculptor Arun Datte's Parel Cha Maharaja Ganpati idol was taken out for immersion.

As Ganesh visarjan picks up pace, Western Railways has put in place special measures and train schedules to manage rush at Mumbai's Charni Road station, which lies opposite the city's biggest immersion spot Girgaon Chowpatty.
On Saturday, all fast up locals will halt at all stations between Churchgate and Mumbai Central from 5 pm till 8.30 pm. Slow up slow locals will not halt at Charni Road station on Platform No 2 between 5 pm and 11.30 pm.

Mumbai Gives Rain-Soaked Farewell To 'Bappa'
Beats of 'dhol-tasha' and clouds of 'gulal' rose in the air as faithfuls thronged the streets of Mumbai on Saturday, braving the rains for immersion processions of Ganesh idols on Anant Chaturdashi, the last and final day of the 10-day Ganpati festival.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, 405 Ganesh idols, including 11 belonging to Sarvajanik mandals, were immersed in natural water bodies and artificial ponds created by the civic body by 12 noon.

Ganesh idols were being immersed in Hyderabad's Hussain Sagar lake and at other water bodies, with police and government officials making arrangements for the smooth conduct of processions on the final day of immersion.

Advanced Technology To Aid Real-Time Monitoring
Mumbai Police will also rely on modern surveillance technology to manage crowd and traffic dynamics. Over 10,000 AI-enabled CCTV cameras will monitor key routes and immersion points. More than 50 drones will be deployed to capture aerial footage and assess real-time crowd conditions.

On the day of Ganesh idol immersion, thousands of police personnel will be deployed across Mumbai to manage the anticipated surge in traffic and ensure smooth movement for devotees. Joint Commissioner of Traffic, Anil Kumbhar, stated that 2,826 traffic policemen will be on the roads, supported by 4 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), 8 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), 60 Police Inspectors (PIs), 179 Assistant Police Inspectors (APIs) and Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs)
