Fresh Snowfall in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla:

High altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh had another spell of moderate snowfall while mid and lower hills were lashed by intermittent rains and thunderstorm.

The local met office has warned of heavy rains and thunderstorm accompanied by hailstorm at isolated places over next three days, and rains and snowfall at many places up to April 7     

The higher reaches in Lahaul and Spiti, Rohtang Pass and upper areas of Manali had another spell of moderate snowfall and Koksar and Mari received 25 cm of snow. Rohtang Pass had 35 cm of fresh snow.

The fresh snowfall has hampered the road clearance operations of Border Roads which had cleared the Manali-Leh national Highway of snow upto 28 km from Manali side.

The sky remained heavily overcast in Shimla which was lashed by strong winds, accompanied by intermittent showers.

Meanwghile, Bhandal received 23 mm rains, followed by Kalatop 18 mm, Manali 15 mm, Mashobra 14 mm, Dalhousie 12 mm, Shimla 10 mm, Dharamsala 8 mm, Chamba 6 mm and Bhuntar 4 mm.

The mercury rose marginally in lower hills and Una in Shivalik foothills was hottest in the region with maximum temperature at 31.0 degrees, followed by Nahan 23.3 degrees, Solan 22.5 degrees, Sundernagar 21.3 degrees, Dharamshala 20.4 degrees, Bhunter 18.0 degrees, Shimla 17.1 degrees and Manali 14.0 degrees.

There was no significant change in minimum temperature which rose marginally - Keylong and Kalpa recorded minimum temperatures at 1.5 degrees and 2.4 degrees, while Manali and Palampur recorded a low of 5.0 degrees, followed by Shimla 8.5 degrees, Bhuntar 9.6 degrees, Solan 9.8 degrees, Dharamsala 10.2 degrees, Una 11.6 degrees, Sundernagar 12.3 degrees and Nahan 16.1 degrees.
