Eloped couple get police protection

Eloped couple get police protection
Jaipur:

"Can I live like this? Do you think I will live like this?" asked Pinky's grandfather.

A grandfather in despair; simply because Pinky married boy from within her own gotra or clan.

The anger against the young couple in Rajasthan is so intense that the Kumher village panchayat has announced a reward of 1 lakh rupees for anyone who kills them.

On Wednesday after days on the run, the police have finally given some security to Yash and Pinky.

"Preventive action has been taken against 10 people and inquiry has been undertaken," said Kanhaiyalal Bairava, ADG, Crime.

But there's still no FIR against the community panchayat that issued the diktat.

"The community has made our life extremely difficult. They are beating us. We are moving from one place to another just to save our lives," said Yash's brother.

"We complained to police, but in vain. Our life has become difficult," Yash's brother further said.

Hunted by their own people, these families fear they have no one to turn to.
