Puducherry:
Police lathicharged DMK and AIADMK workers in Nellithope assembly constituency here after they came to blows over distribution of forms to families to
avail Rs 1,000 as flood relief.
Heated arguments erupted between AIADMK workers led by Opposition AIADMK legislator Ohm Sakthi Segar (representing the constituency) and DMK functionaries including Chandresh (son of former Chief Minister and convenor of DMK's local unit R V Janakiraman) and later came to blows.
DMK volunteers led by Janakiraman later staged a road rook to protest against the alleged assault on Chandresh and other party workers.
The agitators, including Janakiraman, were arrested.
Distribution of forms and relief amount resumed after police restored calm.
