Lucknow:
Congress workers in the city were lathicharged by the police for raising slogans and demanding a CBI probe in the murder of Dr BP Singh, the Chief Medical Officer, at the Uttar Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Department.
They were marching from Shaheed Smarak to Bapu Bhawan when water cannons were used and police also resorted to the use of force to disperse the workers.
The CMO here was shot dead by criminals in the Gomti Nagar area on April 2.
He was looking into the irregularities in the UP Health Department.
DIG DK Thakur said that there were two guys riding a bike and they shot at him from the back and about 8-12 rounds were shot at him.
The brother of the officer has demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.
