Days after the Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor said Saudi Arabia can act as "our interlocutor," he met the head of the Congress media cell Janardhan Dwivedi.
Tharoor's remark had caused a flutter, but he had later told NDTV that his remark was distorted.
Sources close to the minister say Tharoor went to meet Dwivedi for a prescheduled meeting to clear the air, after recent media reports that the party is unhappy with him.
Sources also say that Dwivedi promised Tharoor that the party will not react to press reports without checking with him first.
