Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday unveiled memorial set up to commemorate sacrifice by 18 security personnel during 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
Chidambaram speaking at the unveiling of a memorial to the police martyrs said: "We unveil this memorial of 18 brave officers who laid down their life to save the honour of India. The very idea of India. The very idea of India as a secular, republic, democratic was attacked."
"I am here on behalf of the government of India to offer my condolences to the 18 officers who laid down their lives. I ask the people of Maharashtra to give respect to their police men. He lays his life to protect us. So I request you to respect them, " he added.
