Chavan's directive against posters music to Asha's ears

Mumbai: New Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan's directive against putting up his posters or hoardings has been hailed by singer Asha Bhosle.

"Perhaps Prithviraj Chauhan read our chat and had most of his posters removed. Well done sir! Hope others follow your example," she tweeted.

On Friday, the legendary singer had posted a tweet, saying "Beautifying Mumbai: Our 'handsome' politicians overshadow movie stars in thousands of posters all over Mumbai informing us of their birthdays."

Chavan's directive to supporters not to put up his posters comes at a time when political banners and posters everywhere in the city are becoming an eyesore.

While travelling through the city a day after he was sworn-in on Thursday, Chavan saw huge banners and posters greeting him following his selection as Chief Minister. Even outside the Mantralaya (Secretariat) in south Mumbai, there were jumbo cut-outs, plastic banners and posters greeting him.

"Chavan felt that all the banners and posters were an eyesore and asked Municipal Commissioner to remove at least those depicting him," an official said.
