BSP legislator's kin booked for shooting a clerk
Auraiya, UP: A Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator's relative has been booked for shooting a junior government official in the Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh.

Sanjeev Shakya, BSP MLC Vinay Shakya's uncle, allegedly shot at a clerk working with the irrigation department after the latter tried to stop Shakya from illegally mining sand from the banks of the Yamuna.

After an argument, Shakya pulled out his rifle and shot Man Singh, critically wounding him. The rifle used belongs to Shakya's nephew, Vinay.

Sanjeev Shakya is a former district head of the BSP from Auraiya.

A case of attempt to murder has been registered against Sanjeev Shakya who is currently absconding.
