BJP MLA's house torched in Uttar Pradesh

Bahraich: The brother of a BJP MLA on Tuesday sustained injuries after unidentified persons allegedly torched a part of his house in Kotwali area here.

"Some unidentified persons threw inflammable substance on my house in the wee hours and torched a room in which my brother Dineshwar Singh was sleeping," BJP MLA from Mehsi, Sureshwar Singh said.

He alleged that his brother Dineshwar sustained serious burn injuries and has been admitted to the hospital.

"The matter is being investigated and a team of forensic science laboratory from Lucknow has been called to inspect the spot," Superintendent of Police Lalji Shukla said after inspecting the MLA's house.

The MLA alleged that this was the second attempt to torch his house.

"On February 6, some persons set ablaze a part of my house. Besides I have received several letters threatening to kill my family members," he claimed.

Singh alleged that despite informing the Chief Minister, chief secretary, DGP and other senior officers government had not taken the issue seriously.
