Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury takes on the Bharatiya Janata Party over the controversy over Dr Amartya Sen's remarks against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

- How unfortunate that we plunge to such low levels (referring to the BJP leader Chandan Mitra's remark on Dr Amartya Sen). Mr Sen is entitled to his opinion. Is this what the Bharat Ratna has been reduced to?
- It (the Bharat Ratna) is not a fan with a seven-year warranty.
- Raj Babbar has made categorical statements regretting it (his remark professing that Rs 12 can buy a complete meal in Mumbai). I have no authority to condemn Mr Ajay Maken for what he tweeted. We don't contribute to such a philosophy.
