New Delhi:

All efforts must be made to safeguard the citizens from the impact of the Middle East conflict, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed. The directive came at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), the second such meeting chaired by the PM to review the measures being taken in the country amid the ongoing Iran war.

Issues related to sectors like energy, agriculture, fertilisers, aviation, shipping, and logistics were discussed at the meeting, the PM said in an online post.

During the meeting, the cabinet secretary briefed about the action taken to ensure the supply of LPG and LNG across the nation, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement. Sources are also being diversified for the procurement of LPG and LNG with new inflows from different countries, the PMO added.

The initiatives taken to expand Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections were also discussed.

State governments have been requested to curb black marketing, hoarding, and the diversion of fertilisers through daily monitoring, raids, and strict action, the PMO said.

The discussions covered the interventions that have been proposed to tackle the emerging challenges in various other sectors such as agriculture, civil aviation, shipping, and logistics.

The PM also assessed the availability of critical needs for the common man and discussed the availability of fertilisers in the country.

"Efforts to globally diversify our sources for energy, fertilizers, and other supply chains, and international initiatives for securing safe passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing diplomatic efforts are being taken," the PMO said.

The Prime Minister directed all concerned departments to work towards mitigating the problems of citizens and the sectors affected by the conflict.
