Andhra's GenNext in poll fray

Andhra's GenNext in poll fray
Kadapa:

This election, Andhra Pradesh is seeing the political GenNext take centrestage. Among them are two sons and a young actor who we could attain greater prominence in the next decade.

Junior NTR's firebrand campaign style brings back memories of his inimitable grandfather. So much so that it looked like the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) would take the fight into the enemy Congress camp.

However, an accident left junior NTR bedridden, but that was not going to keep him from campaigning for uncle Chandrababu Naidu.

"TDP was born for the common man and for social justice," he said.

Matching NTR's firepower from the Congress side is Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's son -- industrialist-turned-politician Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Jagan, who is contesting the election from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency, is a photocopy of his father, when it comes to voice modulation and mannerisms while delivering a speech.

"If you see the speeches of Harikrishna, Balakrishna and junior NTR, their speeches mimic NTR.
In my case, it comes with the genes. I have seen dad as my role model since my childhood," he said.

The TDP has witnessed a son-rise as well this election in the form of Naidu's son Lokesh. Lokesh not only filed the nomination in Kuppam on behalf of his dad, but is also taking care of his campaign.

"I have no political ambitions. I am in the business of selling milk and vegetables through our retain chain," he said.

The results on May 16 will show which one of these young guns had the firepower to match the boom.
