AK Hangal, veteran Bollywood actor dies at 95
Mumbai: Veteran actor Avtar Kishen Hangal has died in a Mumbai hospital today. He was 95.

Mr Hangal was admitted to Parekh Hospital in Santa Cruz in suburban Mumbai on August 16 after he slipped and fell in his bathroom, fracturing his right thigh bone, on August 13.

"He had a fall on August 13. On August 16, he was admitted to the hospital as he had suffered a back injury and had to undergo a surgery. But that could not take place as later it was found that he has chest and breathing problems," the actor's son Vijay Hangal said last evening.

Mr Hangal was put on life support today and was too weak to be operated on. "He is on life support system. One of his lungs is not functioning. He is also having respiratory problems," Dr Vinod Khanna, Orthopaedic surgeon at Asha Parekh hospital told PTI.

AK Hangal, who has acted in over 200 films, is best known for his roles in Namak Haram, Sholay, Shaukin and Aaina. He was recently seen in TV series Madhubala, seven years after he last faced the camera.
