Ranchi:
In Ranchi, 55 bodies which were lying unclaimed in the morgue of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), were cremated on October 14.
The bodies were lying in the morgue for a long time because the hospital could not arrange for wood to carry out the cremations, a local newspaper had reported.
After the story was published, Ranchi Municipal Corporation(RMC) officials approached the state forest department which then agreed to provide wood.
After the RMC identified the venue to carry out the mass crematon, Murda Kalyan Samiti (KMS) offered its services to lift these bodies for cremation on the bank of River Jumar.
