A woman was found dead in a forest in Fatehpur district and a nine-year-old boy, earlier reported abducted, was found inside a pit, also dead, in Ballia's Hanumanganj village, police said Wednesday, suspecting at least woman to have been murdered.

Jafarganj Police Station SHO Jaychandra Bharti said the body of the 20-year-old, barely clothed, was located Wednesday on the information of the villagers.

He said the woman was likely murdered as there were injury marks on her neck.

Police are trying to ascertain the identity of the victim, he added.

In the Ballia incident, police said the boy was reported to have been kidnapped from Hanumanganj village on Monday in a complaint filed by his father.

Body of Pawan, the boy, was found inside a pit on Wednesday, Sukhpura Police Station In-charge Paras Nath Singh said.

His body was sent for post mortem and his death is being investigated, he said.

In another incident that took place in Baghpat, a drunk man allegedly strangled his father, uncle, and aunt while they were asleep.

The incident happened Tuesday night in Shabda village and was revealed the next morning when the accused turned up at his aunt's house in Sirsali village and confessed to the murders, Chhaprauli Police Station Inspector Ravi Ratna told PTI.

The victims were Rishipal, 58, Shripal, 60, and their 62-year-old sister, Birmati, he said.

According to police, the accused, Anjal alias Malu Kumar, came home drunk Tuesday night and had a fight with the three victims over the issue of property. The four went to sleep after they were placated by Birmati.

However, Malu Kumar later in the night went to their rooms and strangled them one by one. He laid their bodies on a cot, covered them with quilts, and a few hours later, went to another village to his aunt to confess to his crime, police said.

Police said Malu Kumar was an only child of his parents, but since he was a drunk, his parents wanted to transfer the property to his children.
