2 Constables Dismissed for Allegedly Raping Minor in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun

The men, who allegedly raped the teenager, are missing.

Badaun: Two policemen have been dismissed for allegedly gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun.

The girl's family in Badaun alleges that two constables saw her when she left her house to use the toilet on Wednesday night, dragged her to their quarters near the police station and raped her. The teenager has undergone a medical examination.

Based on her mother's complaint, the police have started an investigation and are looking for the men, who are missing.

"We looked for her everywhere when she did not return. At about midnight she came back and told us about the incident," said the teenager's mother.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had sought serious disciplinary action to be taken against the two constables.

"#UPCM #Akhileshyadav also instructs that serious disciplinary action be taken against the culprits &all-out efforts to be made to catch them," the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's Office tweeted today.

Badaun made headlines after two girls, who were cousins, were found hanging from a tree a year ago. The police had said that the girls were raped and hanged alive, but the CBI last month filed a report that said all evidence pointed to suicide.
