Srinagar:
Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were today gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Kashmir, police said.
The gunbattle in Manzimpora village, about 55 kms from Srinagar, broke out at around 4.30 pm when a joint team of police and Rashtriya Rifles started a search operation after getting specific information about presence of terrorists in the area, police said.
The encounter resulted in the killing of two terrorists who were identified as Adil Ahmad Khanday and Irshad Ahmad, police said. Khanday hails from Shopian.
The terrorists were wearing Army fatigues under the traditional 'pheran' (cloak), police said, adding some arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
The search operation was still continuing in the area, the police said.
