Is pancreatitis a serious infection?

My 15 years old cousin has developed infection in her panceas. Is it serious? What mode of treatment should we take?

Pancreatitis can happen due to alcohol use or gallstones. No treatment can cure it. Supportive treatment is the only way out. If there is kidney failure along with it, then it gets dangerous.
