Is it safe to clear blocked ears using anaesthesia during pregnancy?

I am 24 weeks pregnant and suffering from a blocked ear for the past 10 days. Since I cannot be given strong antibiotics to clear the ear, the ENT specialist has recommended drainage of the ear under local anaesthesia. Is this safe for my baby?
