How to manage high cholesterol & triglycerides?
Question
I have high cholesterol 225 mg/dl and triglycerides 280 mg/dl at present. My VLDL is also high. How would taking cod-liver oil affect me and would it raise HDL i.e. the good cholesterol? If cholesterol levels remain in the range of 225 to 280 over a period of 7 years what harm would it cause? Please advise.

You have not mentioned your LDL cholesterol level, if it is more than 130 it is abnormal. Fish oil does reduce triglyceride if taken in adequate amount. At least 5 capsules of MAXEPA. However NIACIN is a more effective agent to increase HDL cholesterol and reduce triglycerides and VLDL. This should be taken under a doctors prescription.
